Participants of the session on Tobacco free institutes
A workshop for teachers on Tobacco Free Education Institutions (ToFEI) Guidelines, was organised by District Tobacco Control Cell, National Tobacco Control Programme, South Goa District Hospital, Margao. The objective of the workshop was to provide guidance to make colleges in Goa tobacco-free. District Nodal Officer, (NTCP) National Tobacco Control Programme, Dr Sarah George, was the main speaker for the day. Registrar, DBCE, Dr. Kala Nayak and Counselor Mancia Lobo, from Don Bosco College of Engineering attended the session on August 16, 2024.
Some of the key topics discussed were: Tobacco Free Education Institutions (ToFEI) Guidelines, and Quitting Tobacco, with a special mention of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) by Carol Noronha, counselor.
Carol Noronha shared valuable insights on quitting tobacco, highlighting NRT as an effective strategy while Dr. Sarah George provided comprehensive guidance on ToFEI guidelines. The event was well-attended by teachers and officials, marking a significant step towards making colleges in Goa tobacco-free.
