Don Bosco Youth Services (INP) organized an exhilarating sports championship at the Don Bosco Fatorda Ground, bringing together the vibrant energy and competitive spirit of young athletes. With 12 boys' teams and 6 girls' teams participating, this event was a dynamic display of talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship on October 2, 2024.

The boys' football tournament witnessed intense competition, culminating in Don Bosco Benaulim 1 being crowned champions, while MBBS Paliem earned the runners-up title. The final match, which ended 0-0 during regular play, was decided by a penalty shootout. Don Bosco Benaulim clinched victory with a 3-1 score line, thanks to their key scorers, Sheadon Rodrigues, Klyne Fernandes, Vishal Karmakar.

MBBS Paliem’s solitary penalty goal came from Manjunath Harijan, but it wasn’t enough to stop Don Bosco Benaulim from lifting the trophy.

The girls' Tennikoit final was equally electrifying. Don Bosco Quepem Girls triumphed over Don Bosco Vocational Training Institute (DBVTI), Quepem in a thrilling 18-16 match, showcasing precision, agility, and determination from both teams.

Several awards highlighted the spirit of the day. The Don Bosco Kudal-Oros Boys team was recognized with the Disciplined Team Title, reflecting their exemplary conduct and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Most Enthusiastic Team Award was shared by Don Bosco Youth Paschers (Girls) 2 and Pope John XXIII Boys, celebrating their infectious energy and unwavering support for their peers.

Individual honors went to, Grachel, captain of Pope John’s Girls, and Warren, from Don Bosco Fatorda Boys, both were declared Players of the Tournament for their outstanding contributions to their teams.

The day was graced by Chief Guest, Panch of Murda Grande Nuvem, Miss Salome D'Costa, a past pupil of Don Bosco College of Engineering. In her address, she encouraged the young participants to embody the values of Mahatma Gandhi, urging them to contribute to building a just and compassionate society. Her message resonated deeply with the spirit of the event, which emphasized not only competition but also camaraderie and character building.

YouSports 2024 was not just a celebration of athletic prowess but a reminder of the values that sport can instil in young people; discipline, teamwork, and resilience. It was a memorable day for everyone involved, leaving a lasting legacy for the Don Bosco community.
