The Salesian Province of Panjim Konkan regret to inform you the sudden demise of Father Lino Lopes today at 1:30pm. Father Lopes suffered a massive heart attack yesterday the October 29, 2024 at his Salesian residence of Don Bosco Sirsi. He was rushed to the hospital at Sirsi for immediate treatment and later was found to be conscious and responding to medication. Due to the urgency of the medical situation the doctors at TSS Hospital at Sirsi suggested to transfer Father Lopes to a better heart facility of SDM hospital at Hubli Dharwad where he was admitted to intensive care with an instable pulse. With increasing complications, the doctors tired their best to resuscitate Father Lopes but, Father Lino Lopes passed away at 1:30pm this afternoon.

Provincial INP, Father Clive Telles and Father Sandesh brought the mortal remains of Father Lino Lopes to Goa and have place it at GMC. The funeral mass has been arranged to be held on November 1, 2024 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima at Don Bosco campus at 230pm, followed by the burial at the Salesian cemetery at Don Bosco, Fatorda.

Father Lino Lopes was born on September 23, 1964 at Goa. He did his first profession on May 31, 1985 and was ordined a Priest in the Salesian congregation of Saint John Bosco on December 21, 1995 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima at Don Bosco Panjim. Father Lino Lopes was 60 years old, a Salesian Religious for 39 years and a Priest of God for 28 years.

At present Father Lino Lopes was serving as the Rector of the Salesian community of Don Bosco Sirsi in Karnataka and the Parish Priest of Saint John Bosco Church at Sirsi.
