Workshop on Mental Health for Teachers’ Held at DBHS Panjim


In recognition of the critical importance of mental health in today’s fast-paced and demanding professional environment, a workshop titled, Mental Health at the Workplace by Assistant Professor Vithoba Narayan Mhalkar, Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour, Goa Medical College, Bambolim was conducted for the teaching staff on October 18, 2024.

Professor Mhalkar commenced the session by addressing the theoretical aspects of workplace mental health, enriched with relatable examples and real-life scenarios. His presentation emphasized understanding common mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and burnout, alongside strategies for coping and building resilience. To ensure active participation and engagement, Professor Mhalkar conducted a variety of interactive activities. His use of humor not only made the workshop lively but also facilitated better learning and retention among the participants.

The workshop was attended by 40 staff members who found the session insightful and rejuvenating. Participating teachers, including Rajesh Kalangutkar and Bianca Fernandes, shared positive feedback, expressing how the session broadened their understanding of mental health and provided practical tools for managing stress in their professional lives.

Principal, Father Tamator Cardozo, appreciated the resource person’s effort in creating a meaningful and engaging workshop. The event was organized by Yeshwant Gaunkar, who also compered the session and delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guest speaker and all participants for their enthusiasm and active involvement.
The workshop served as a significant step towards promoting mental health awareness and fostering a supportive environment for staff members.
