QUICK BITE -

The serene campus of Don Bosco Boys’ Home, Sutgatti, Hubli, came alive on June 29, 2025, as it warmly welcomed the parents of its boarders for the inaugural Parents’ Meeting of the academic year. The day was not just a gathering, but a heartfelt celebration of faith, family, and formation.

The morning began with a solemn Holy Eucharist at 9:30 AM, celebrated by the Rector, Father Lionel, with Father Merwin and Father James concelebrating. The spiritual ambiance set the perfect tone for the rest of the day, reminding all present of the sacred foundation on which Don Bosco’s mission rests.

Following the Mass, parents and students proceeded to Brother Rocha Hall, where they were greeted with tea and light refreshments, breaking their Eucharistic fast in a simple moment of community bonding.
The formal program opened with a melodious welcome song presented by the boarders, filling the hall with warmth and joy. In his introductory address, Father Lionel extended a heartfelt welcome to all present. He introduced the Salesian community and underlined the vital role of parental involvement in the holistic development of the boys. In a touching moment, he invited the boys to sit beside their parents and give them a hug—an emotional gesture that brought smiles and tears to many.

The gathering then heard from each of the priests, each of whom offered insights into their areas of responsibility: The Principal, Father Merwin outlined the school's rules and expectations, underscoring the need for academic discipline and focus. The Prefect of Studies, Father Infancio elaborated on the unique Don Bosco system of education, structured around four pillars: home, church, school, and playground. He also briefed the parents about the daily schedule, discipline policies, and behavioral expectations. Father Sigmaringa Amarildes spoke passionately about the importance of catechism classes and participation in the Sacraments. He reminded parents to submit baptism and communion certificates, especially for those preparing for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. The Administrator, Father James provided practical details about boarding fees, food arrangements, and other financial matters.

Before concluding, everyone gathered for a group photograph, capturing the spirit of togetherness and shared mission. A cheerful thank-you song by the boarders brought the program to a joyful close.
The informal part of the day saw parents and boys spending time with the priests in warm personal interactions. As a special treat, the boarders were allowed a half-day outing for a haircut and some light shopping. By 6:00 PM, all had returned to the campus, bringing a meaningful and joy-filled day to a fitting close.
