The volume is the outcome of the annual seminar organized by Divyadaan, Salesian Institute of Philosophy, Nashik, and brings together scholarly research and reflections on Saint John Bosco’s formative dream at the age of nine—a pivotal moment that shaped his life and became a cornerstone of Salesian pedagogy and the Preventive System of education he pioneered.
Edited by Father Jacob Palaparambil, the book examines what he calls, the transformative journey of Saint John Bosco, guided by a profound dream he experienced at the age of nine. Rooted in Don Bosco's Preventive System, the book offers this dream as a guiding framework for addressing contemporary challenges through love, reason, and spiritual guidance.

From a Dream to Legacy offers an interdisciplinary exploration of Don Bosco’s childhood dream, with contributions from scriptural, theological, ethical, psychological, and pedagogical perspectives. The other essays in the volume delve into the historical context of the dream, as well as its implications for leadership, formation and peacebuilding in today’s world.
The seminar and subsequent publication stand as a testament to the academic rigor and relevance of research carried out by the faculty of Divyadaan. Each year, the institute selects topics of pressing contemporary importance or historically significant moments that hold deep meaning for the Salesian mission—particularly in its service to marginalized and at-risk youth.
