INP Leaders Chart the Future with Rector Major’s Six-Year Plan

QUICK BITE -

The leaders of the Salesian Province of Saint Joseph Vaz (INP), gathered at Don Bosco Provincial House for a two-day formation programme dedicated to reflecting on the six-year plan of the Rector Major, Father Fabio Attard, on August 25–26, 2025.

The programme was led by the Provincial, Father Clive Telles, together with Vice Provincial, Father Banzelao Teixeira, who guided leaders through the Rector Major’s road map for 2025–2031. The plan outlines four priorities that will shape Salesian life and mission in the years ahead: strengthening the centrality of Christ in daily life: developing an updated pastoral proposal with professionalism: addressing the pastoral challenges posed by artificial intelligence: and strengthening Salesian formation through the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) with a renewed focus on the congregation’s cultural, pedagogical, and theological heritage.

The leaders also reflected on the Rector Major’s introductory letter for the new six-year period, titled, Mary set out and went in haste…. Drawing inspiration from Mary’s openness at the Annunciation and her visit to Elizabeth, the letter calls Salesians to cultivate the virtues of listening, availability, and generosity, especially in the face of today’s pastoral challenges. The sessions also provided space for the discussion of the Provincial Organic Plan (OPP) which was guided by Father Ralin D’souza, the youth ministry delegate of the province. This enabled the participants to connect the global vision of the congregation with the local mission of INP, ensuring unity in direction and commitment.

The second day was animated by Former General Councillor for Formation, Father Ivo Coelho, who addressed the rectors and vice-rectors on their vital role as guardians and animators of Salesian consecrated identity. Inviting them to revisit the Rector’s Manual, Father Coelho emphasized the importance of synodality and community discernment, drawing inspiration from the pastoral leadership of Pope Francis.

The two-day programme ended with renewed enthusiasm among the leaders of the Salesian Province of Panjim-Konkan, to walk together with clarity of vision and unity of purpose, in line with the congregation’s global priorities while responding to the concrete realities of the province.
