The Department of Physical Education and Sports at Don Bosco College, Panjim, organized an exciting Inter-Class Football Tournament from August 9-14, 2025 showcasing the college's commitment to promoting sports and physical activity among its students and faculty. The tournament was structured into two formats, a 9-a-side format for the men's teams and a 5-a-side format for the women's teams, with faculty members also actively participating and adding to the event's enthusiasm.
In the men's category, 21 classes participated, and TYBCA A emerged as champions. TYBBA secured the runners-up position, demonstrating strong competition among the teams. The final score was 1-0. Agnel Faria from TYBCA A was awarded the Best Player (Male) title, highlighting his exceptional skills and contribution to his team's victory.
In the women's category, 15 classes participated, and SYBBA clinched the championship title. SYBBA T&T followed in close second, showcasing the competitive spirit and talent in the women's teams. The final match ended in a draw, and the winner was decided by a tiebreaker, where each team was given three shots. SYBBA won with a score of 1-0.
Assistant Professor Valerie Carvalho, BBA department, was recognized as the Best Player (Female), demonstrating her dedication and prowess in the sport.
For the closing ceremony of the tournament, Ms. Ayesha Alvares, former faculty of the college, former football player and currently the IPES of Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Principal, Dr Cedric Silveira attended as the Guest of Honor, alongside Director of Physical Education, Ryan Pereira and Instructor in Physical Education, Prissie Fernandes.
The Tournament was a resounding success, highlighting the talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship of the participants. It served as a wonderful platform for students and faculty to come together, compete, and celebrate their love for the sport.
