The golden sands of Miramar Beach became a stage for change as Club Ecotiva and the NSS Unit of Don Bosco College (DBC), Panjim, in collaboration with the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and the Feedback Foundation, organised a beach clean-up drive to mark International Coastal Clean-Up Day with the theme, Sea the Change on September 20, 2025.



More than 150 enthusiastic students gathered at 8:30 a.m., armed with gloves, bags and a strong determination to make a difference. Guiding their efforts was Vice President, Feedback Foundation, Balaji Kendre and CCP Panjim official, Leroy Veloso, who spoke about the importance of caring for the ocean and the coasts.



The students rolled up their sleeves and worked in groups, removing heaps of plastic, wrappers and discarded bottles from the beach. Every bag of collected waste was a reminder of the urgent need to act against pollution. Beyond just cleaning, the activity created a ripple of awareness, reminding participants and onlookers alike that protecting nature starts with small, consistent actions.

The morning ended not only with a cleaner shoreline but also with a sense of pride and unity among the students, who experienced the power of teamwork and environmental responsibility.
Principal, DBC, Dr Cedric Silveira, graced the event with his presence and also participated in the clean-up along with faculty members of the college, Assistant Professors Valerie Carvalho, Shareen Alphonso, Sister Cathrine Prisilda, Jude Fernandes, Shubham Shetgaonkar, Archie Fernandes along with the Convenor of the Eco Club, Assistant Professor Glenda Mascarenhas and Convenor of the NSS unit, Dr Ajith Gopi.
The Beach Clean-Up at Miramar was more than just an event—it was a movement towards safeguarding our planet, one wave at a time.
