The National Service Scheme, (NSS) Unit of Don Bosco College, Panaji in collaboration with the College’s department of Computer Applications, organised a workshop on Cybersecurity, aimed at spreading awareness about online safety, responsible digital practices, and the preventive measures required to protect oneself in the cyber world on September 30, 2025.
The workshop began with a brief welcome address delivered by the event in-charge, NSS PO, Assistant Professor Marina F. Martins. The resource persons for the session were Assistant Professor Rohan Kerkar, Course Coordinator, BCA Department, and Assistant Professor Shantanu Arlekar, lecturer at the Don Bosco College, BCA department. Through engaging presentations and real-life examples, they shed light on the growing threats in the digital space such as phishing, malware, identity theft, and data breaches. They also emphasized the importance of strong passwords, safe browsing habits, and the need for vigilance while using social media platforms and online financial services.
The session was interactive, with students actively participating and posing questions that reflected their concerns and curiosity about online safety. The insights shared by the speakers provided participants with practical strategies to safeguard their personal and professional digital identities.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Nazia who expressing gratitude to the esteemed speakers, the NSS Programme Officers, the department of Computer Applications, Principal Dr Cedric Silveira, and all the participants who contributed to the success of the programme.
Overall, the workshop proved to be highly enriching and relevant, equipping students with essential knowledge to navigate the digital world responsibly and securely.
