DBCE Holds Winter School 2025: From Zero to Data Hero

Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), Fatorda, department of Computer Engineering, organized a week-long Winter School titled, From Zero to Data Hero, funded by the Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF). The program held aimed to introduce students to programming and data science using Python and R through a fun, hands-on learning approach, from October 27 to 31, 2025.



The inaugural ceremony featured Professor Savio Faleiro as the chief guest, who commended the department’s efforts in promoting data literacy among school students. He encouraged participants to cultivate analytical and problem-solving skills through active engagement with coding exercises.



The Winter School saw enthusiastic participation from students representing 12 schools across Goa. Faculty members Dr Gaurang Patkar, Dr Amrita Naik, Sweta Morajkar, and Christina Barretto conducted interactive sessions that combined conceptual learning with practical implementation.

The program successfully provided young learners with foundational exposure to programming, data analysis, and logical thinking. It concluded on an inspiring note, motivating students to continue exploring the vast field of data science in the future.
