The Non-Residential Special Training Centres (NRSTC) under the Konkan Development Society of the Salesian Panjim Province organised a Sports Day for more than 200 children on February 8, 2026 at Don Bosco, Odxel, bringing together students, teachers and guests from all seven centres across Goa, with Odxel Centre emerging as the overall champions.
The programme began with a warm welcome by Father Royston D’Souza, followed by the ceremonial torch lighting by Mr. Akshaye Yasane. Mr. Aditya Tari then officially declared the sports meet open. Colourful and energetic drills presented by the different centres added vibrancy to the event, reflecting teamwork, coordination and creativity among the participants. Students from Std. 1 to Std. 8 took part in a wide range of skill-based events, including sprints, balancing challenges, obstacle races, three-legged races and fun novelty games. The competitions promoted sportsmanship, confidence and physical coordination among the children. Prize distributions were held after each category, encouraging participants and recognising their efforts.
Chief guests, Mr. Akshaye Yasane and Mr. Aditya Tari from Colorcon Asia Pvt. Ltd., appreciated the holistic development approach of the NRSTC. The guest of honour, Father Joel D’Souza, rector of Don Bosco Provincial House, along with Ms. Bhakti Namshikar from Conexus Social Responsibilities, motivated the students through their inspiring messages. The event concluded with games for the teachers, a vote of thanks and the National Anthem, marking a memorable celebration of sports and camaraderie.
The Konkan Development Society runs NRSTC centres across Goa including Dabolim, Zuarinagar, Bicholim, Chimbel, Colvale and Odxel. Through these centres it assists children from underprivileged backgrounds through remedial education and programmes for their all-round development.
