Department of BBA (Travel & Tourism), DB College, Panjim Organises, Freshers' Day Out 2026- Heritage Walk

"Heritage is not what we inherit from the past, it is what we preserve for the future." Reflecting this spirit, the department of Business Administration (Travel & Tourism), Don Bosco College, Panjim, organised, Freshers' Day Out 2026 – Heritage Walk on June 27, 2026 in collaboration with the Yuva Club and Heritage Club. The faculty members along with the Second-Year and Third-Year students welcomed the new first-year batch through this unique immersive journey across the historic Latin Quarters of Fontainhas, Panjim, blending orientation with experiential learning.



The Heritage Walk commenced from the Old Mandovi Bridge (Ponte de Linhares) and guided participants through some of Panjim's most significant heritage landmarks, including DTR & SOHO, Tobacco Square, Mint House, General Post Office, São Tomé Chapel, Adil Shah Palace, Abbé Faria Statue, Mhamai Kamat House, Nacional Club, and concluded with an educational visit to the Dharohar Museum – National Museum of Customs & GST. The senior batch of students served as heritage interpreters at every location, sharing historical facts, architectural features, and cultural significance while enhancing the learning experience for the freshers.

The programme aimed to introduce students to the department while fostering an appreciation for Goa's rich heritage and promoting the principles of heritage conservation, destination interpretation, and sustainable tourism. The walk also encouraged interaction between senior and junior students, strengthening bonds of friendship, teamwork and belonging within the department.



Faculty members accompanied the students throughout the event, encouraging active participation and reinforcing the importance of preserving Goa's unique cultural and architectural legacy. The activity reflected the department's commitment to providing practical, field-based learning experiences that prepare students for careers in the tourism and hospitality industry. The enthusiastic participation of the students made the event both memorable and meaningful.



The Freshers' Day Out 2026 – Heritage Walk concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving the participants inspired to cherish, preserve, and promote Goa's heritage while embarking on their academic journey at Don Bosco College, Panjim. The event reaffirmed the department of Business Administration (Travel & Tourism)'s commitment to nurturing socially responsible and industry-ready tourism professionals through innovative experiential learning.
