Don Bosco College, Panjim, held its Investiture Ceremony for newly elected student council for the academic year 2026-2027 on August 11, 2026, in the Bicentenary Hall, formally investing the newly appointed Student Council with their responsibilities for the year.



The ceremony began with a welcome by the comperes Ms Micole D’Souza and Ms Abigail Silveira, followed by the entry of the Student Council and the invocation of God’s blessings. The Convenor of the Students’ Council Committee, Assistant Professor Agnelo D’Souza led the dignitaries for the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, marking the beginning of the programme.



Principal Professor Teotone Vaz welcomed the newly appointed Council and expressed his hope for a year of good collaboration between the Student Council and the college administration. Assistant Professor Shantanu Arlekar introduced the Chief Guest, Mr Vishal Jha, founder of Groworthy Life (Digital Marketing Agency) and DBC General Secretary, 2022-23, who then addressed the gathering.

Mr Jha felt nostalgic standing on the stage once again and reflected on the role the institution had played in shaping him. He shared that his time at the college had helped him grow from an introvert into a more confident and outgoing person. He highlighted that Don Bosco College would continue to provide students with numerous opportunities to participate, learn and grow, and encouraged them to make use of these opportunities.

Addressing the newly appointed Council, he reiterated the advice he had given during his tenure as the General Secretary: “Make it count.” He encouraged them to discharge their duties meaningfully and make the most of the responsibilities entrusted to them.



The newly appointed Class Representatives were then awarded their badges by the Principal Professor Vaz and Vice Principal, Dr Cedric Silveira, with Director Father Kinley D’Cruz, and the Chief Guest, pinning the badges onto the core council members. The badge presentation symbolised the responsibilities entrusted to the members of the Student Council. Thereafter, the principal administered the oath to the Council members, formally marking the beginning of their tenure.

In his address, Father D’Cruz reminded the newly appointed Council that their work began from that very moment. He encouraged the students to balance their responsibilities with care for themselves.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by the newly appointed General Secretary, Mr Joshua Fernandes. In his address, he observed that the badge was not merely a badge but a responsibility. He thanked those who had voted for him and the Student Council for their support, and expressed his hope that the Council would work together to make the academic year an “epic” one.
The programme concluded with the College Anthem, followed by a photograph of the Student Council Committee with the dignitaries.
