A group of 20 Salesian Cooperators of the Mangalore Unit visited Sneha Sadan–St. Camillus Care Home, a home to 40 young boys living with HIV. What began as a simple visit soon became a deeply touching and unforgettable experience of friendship, joy and love on August 30, 2026.

From the very beginning, the Cooperators and the boys connected warmly and naturally. They played various games, laughed together and spent quality time in a true spirit of family. The boys were especially happy and enthusiastic to welcome their new friends—the Cooperators. With great excitement and pride, they eagerly showed them their beautiful drawings, paintings and other creative works. They also joyfully took the Cooperators around to see their neat, beautiful and well-kept homes.

The inmate boys also put up a short programme for the Cooperators. The visitors were touched to see the confidence and the ambition of the inmates to grow in life. This was followed by an interesting and meaningful interaction as the boys introduced themselves to their new friends. Some of the boys have been residing at Sneha Sadan for as long as 14 years, while the newest member had arrived only six months ago.

The Cooperators came generously prepared, bringing boxes of provisions to support the kitchen and provide for the meals of the boys for almost 15 days. Stationery items were also donated to support the boys in their schooling and education.

The afternoon became even more special as everyone joined in celebrating the 75th birthday of Mrs. Rosemary, cooperator. The Cooperators were generous not only in contributing financially to this worthy cause but also in giving something equally precious—their time, love and presence. For nearly three hours, they were with the young boys, sharing friendship, laughter and hope in a truly Don Bosco style.

Father Anisio Mota, local delegate accompanied and animated the group, encouraging the Cooperators to continue reaching out to deserving causes. The visit to Sneha Sadan strengthened the desire of the Mangalore Unit to become, in their own small way, rays of hope and love in the lives of young people who need care, encouragement and a reason to dream.
