MBBS boys taking oath on National YaR day 2022

The National YaR Day was held at Margaret Bosco Bal Sadan (MBBS) on August 31, 2022. The national online celebration began with a prayer song by the MBBS boys marking the closing of the year-long campaign of 2021-2022, held on the theme, Every Child Safe Online.

Children from various Youth at Risk (YaR) set-ups across India, presented awarness videos on how every child can be safe online, and how parents and teachers need to be aware of the content that could corrupt young minds. The danger of cyber crime was also highlighted.

Launching the YaR campaign 2022-2023, on the theme, Choose Life Not Drugs, Salesian Provincials’ Conference of South Asia (SPCSA), Provincial In charge of YaR, Father Thomas Santiago, in his address quoted Don Bosco saying, there is a spark of goodness in every child. He emphasised on avoiding idleness and inculcating in the young the habit of pursuing healthy entertainment in place of unhealthy one.

Later, Executive Secretary, National DB YaR Forum, Father Tony Pellissery, shared his views on how many young people today are confused and in deep trouble. He shared statistics of young people addicted to substances in India. He also stressed on reaching out to the last and the least, and said that action and responsibility should be demanded from those responsible.

Shruti from the National Don Bosco YaR Forum proposed the vote of thanks. The program concluded with the pledge taken by the children, to avoid substance abuse and to create a drug-free community.
