Don Bosco for Migrants (DB4M) hosted the, Migrant Utsav on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Margaret Bosco Bal Sadan, Paliem, Ucassaim, starting at 10:00 a.m.
The event included a Medical Health Camp, an awareness session, Holy Mass, games, and lunch. A total of 119 participants from various parts of Goa such as Siolim, Anjuna, Vagator, Assagao, Porvorim, Vasco, Zuarinagar, Tivim, Talwa, Calangute, Nagoa, Candolim, Parra, Arpora, Curtorim, Aldona, Baina, Vaddem, Pilerne, and Saligao. The attendees hailed from states such as Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.
Upon arrival, each participant registered their name and contact information, after which they were offered snacks and directed to the seating area. They were then called in groups for their health check-ups. The health camp, organized with support from the Lion’s Club Aldona, offered general, eye, and dental check-ups. Simultaneously, Santani Dandin led an awareness session on DB4M’s projects and services, providing individual attention to each group.
Once the health check-ups were completed, the program proceeded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 11:30 a.m. for Christians. Father Winston Barbosa (MSFS) was the main celebrant and Father Simon Nazareth was the co-celebrant. While Christian attendees participated at the Mass, non-Christian participants enjoyed games at eight different stalls set up by the MBBS boys. These stalls offered participants the chance to exchange coupons for games and win exciting prizes.
At 12:30 p.m., lunch packets—both vegetarian and non-vegetarian—were distributed. Following lunch, people of all ages danced to traditional music, celebrating together. Mrs. Lily Paltasingh expressed her gratitude to the organizers and volunteers of DB4M for organizing such an event, which allowed everyone to come together, relax, and enjoy themselves. She highlighted the support DB4M has been offering to their children, through education and the medical camp with assistance of follow-up. After the closing words of thanks, the dancing resumed, and the program wrapped up at 2:30 p.m. The entire event was greatly enjoyed and appreciated by all participants.
The success of the event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Lion's Club Aldona, Aldona Primary Health Centre, and Don Bosco for Migrants.
