DBCE alumni part take in the meal and social sharing


The Annual Alumni Meet of Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE) was successfully held on January 25, 2025, bringing together former students for a delightful day of nostalgia, connection, and celebration. While the alumni meet is an annual tradition, this year marked the official formation of the DBCE Alumni Association, which will operate for the next 3 years to strengthen bonds between past, present, and future generations of DBCE.

The event began with a warm welcome by Trima Firzado, who highlighted the goals of the association and the committees formed under it. She spoke about how the association will create a bridge between alumni and current students while fostering growth and collaboration.

Director DBCE, Father Kinley D’Cruz, taking the stage next, shared the rich history of alumni associations. He highlighted that on June 24, 1870, Carlo Gastini and a group of the first past pupils visited Don Bosco to congratulate him on his name day, bringing gifts; expressing gratitude for the education and love they received. His words underscored the significance of staying connected to one’s alma mater.

Principal, DBCE, Dr Neena Panandikar, addressed the alumni with pride, highlighting key milestones achieved by the college, including, introduction of two postgraduate courses in emerging fields, launch of the Electronics and Computer Science department, and approval for a Ph.D. center in Civil Engineering.
She thanked the Alumni Committee members, Trima Firzado, Selvyn Fernandes, Merwyn D’Souza, Starina Dias, and Chetan Gaonkar for their tireless efforts in organizing the event.

The day’s highlight was a heartfelt video message from Benicia Colaco, an alumna who couldn’t attend in person. She spoke about the impact DBCE had on her life and encouraged everyone to contribute to the association’s growth. She left the audience inspired with a quote from Don Bosco, Do your ordinary duty extraordinarily well.

Vice President of the Alumni Association presented the vision, mission, and shared the association’s three-year roadmap, year one, building the foundation by creating a comprehensive database of all alumni and offering academic and career mentorship to current students. year two, organizing hackathons, skill workshops, and tech competitions to provide students with practical exposure and insights into the industry. Year three, focusing on sustained impact and collaboration, including assisting students with placements and fostering ongoing engagement between alumni and the institution.
He encouraged alumni to provide suggestions on enhancing the association's initiatives, leading to an engaging discussion with valuable inputs from attendees.

Selvyn Fernandes then delivered the vote of thanks, wishing the alumni success in their endeavours. He expressed gratitude to the committee members for their dedication and specifically acknowledged Trima Firzado for her significant contributions to the event's success and also thanked everyone working behind the scenes and urged alumni to share their stories and journeys, emphasizing the shared experiences that unite the community.


DBCE alumni mark their gathering with the cutting of the cake


After the formal sessions, the alumni, along with Father D’cruz, Department Heads, the Registrar and the Principal, participated in a joyful cake-cutting ceremony. This was followed by a delicious buffet of snacks and refreshments, providing a perfect opportunity for alumni to reconnect and reminisce about their college days.

The event concluded with interactive games hosted by Elaine Dias, whose vibrant energy brought everyone together for a fun and lively experience. It was a delightful way to end the day, leaving everyone with smiles and cherished memories.

In summary, the Annual Alumni Meet 2025 was a resounding success. It celebrated the enduring spirit of DBCE and its alumni, blending nostalgia with forward-thinking initiatives. Attendees left feeling inspired, connected, and eager to contribute to their alma mater’s bright future.
