A talk on Cloud Computing Application – AWS (Amazon Web Services) was organized for the Third-Year Computer Engineering students of DBCE on March 24, 2025.

The session aimed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of AWS and its real-world applications. The talk was attended by 50 students.

Speaker, Amatya Katyavan spoke on several key topics, starting with AWS Pricing and Billing, where students learned about the different cost components, including compute charges for processing power, storage costs for data stored in the cloud and data transfer fees for moving data out of AWS. This was followed by an overview of AWS Global Infrastructure, explaining AWS Regions, Availability Zones, Points of Presence (PoP), and the CloudFront Content Delivery Network (CDN), which enhance content delivery and reduce latency.
Next, the session delved into AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), focusing on users, groups, roles, IAM policies, and permissions that define access controls and security best practices. This was followed by a discussion on Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud), Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service), Amazon SQS (Simple Queue Service) and AWS Datastore Services.

The session provided an in-depth understanding of AWS services, their pricing models, and practical applications. The interactive nature of the talk allowed students to engage with real-world scenarios, enhancing their comprehension of cloud computing concepts. The event was well-received, and students expressed keen interest in exploring AWS further for their academic and project work.
