The Teaching Learning and Educational Technology (TLET) Cell of Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE) Fatorda, organized a one-day workshop titled, Blending AI in Word and Excel on July 12 2025. The event was conducted for the non-teaching staff of the college, aiming to enhance their productivity by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) tools in everyday office tasks.
The workshop began with Dr Avil Allwyn Dsa welcoming the resource person, Mr Amey Kerkar, a skilled professional in AI tools and technology. Mr Kerkar introduced the two main types of AI: conventional AI and generative AI, providing a clear understanding of how these technologies work. He emphasized how AI could significantly boost productivity by automating repetitive tasks and improving efficiency.
He demonstrated the use of AI email assistants, showcasing how they could be used to generate quick, professional emails and replies. He highlighted the convenience and time-saving aspects of using AI to automate routine communications. Further, he explained the practical applications of ChatGPT, demonstrating how it can be used to enhance productivity in Microsoft Word and Excel. He showed how AI could assist in tasks such as data analysis, content creation, and report generation in MS Word, as well as help with advanced data manipulations and formulas in Excel.
The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and asking questions. Kerkar’s clear and concise explanations, coupled with real-time demonstrations, made the concepts accessible and easy to grasp for the non-technical audience.
The workshop concluded with Dr Avil Allwyn Dsa expressing gratitude to Amey Kerkar for his insightful and engaging session. He thanked all participants for their active involvement and encouraged them to incorporate AI tools into their daily work processes to enhance productivity.
