Brother Franco Bragança, born on January 30, 1940, was a man set apart—dedicated to uplifting the lives of countless young people through skill training and sports. In the early hours of August 2, 2025, he peacefully bid farewell to his earthly home after 85 years of a meaningful life, including 60 years as a Salesian Lay Brother.
That same evening, a simple yet deeply moving farewell was held at Don Bosco, Fatorda. It was an evening where tears and gratitude came together—an evening where people mourned a loss, yet celebrated a legacy. Tributes poured in from all sides, recalling not just what Brother Franco did, but who he was.
In one of the heartfelt tributes, Provincial, Salesian Province of Panjim-Konkan, Father Clive Telles beautifully expressed that Brother Franco enjoyed the limelight but never asked for it. His niece lovingly recalled how his visits home would brighten the entire household, bringing with him an infectious joy and energy that transformed the atmosphere.

Throughout his six decades as a Salesian of Don Bosco, Brother Franco devoted himself to the mission of educating, encouraging, and empowering the young, especially those from humble backgrounds. He was a man truly dedicated to his Salesian vocation, a religious faithful to his divine calling, and a devotee of Mother Mary, drawing strength from her throughout his life and mission.
His life was a testament to simplicity, service, and unwavering commitment. Brother Franco may have said his final goodbye, but the values he stood for, the lives he touched, and the joy he spread will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live our own vocations with joy, dedication, and love.
