Don Bosco Oros Holds Inter House Living Portrait of the Strenna

QUICK BITE -

Don Bosco High School and Junior College, Oros, organized a captivating Inter-House Living Portrait Competition based on the Rector Major’s Strenna for 2026. The event aimed to bring the Salesian theme to life, encouraging students to reflect on the biblical call from the Wedding at Cana, do whatever He tells you, and the mission to be, Believers, free to serve all.

The four houses namely, Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green, put up a magnificent display of creativity, discipline, and spiritual depth. Each house presented a, "Living Portrait," where students remained perfectly still to recreate iconic scenes of service, faith, and the life of Don Bosco, gradually transitioning into brief, silent movements to convey their message. All houses were commended for their meticulous costumes, thematic props, and the profound stillness that held the audience in awe. The presentations focused on the dual aspect of the Strenna, listening to the Word of God and translating that faith into selfless service for the community.

The competition was intense, with each house bringing a unique interpretation to the stage. After a tough deliberation by the esteemed panel of judges, the results were announced, Red House emerged as the champions, praised for their exceptional attention to detail and powerful portrayal of the "Free to Serve" mission. The event was graced by a distinguished panel of judges who evaluated the performances based on creativity, depiction of the theme, and overall impact Father Augustine Fernandes SDB, Father Richard Correa SDB, Sister Teresa V FMA.

The program concluded with an inspiring address by the Principal, Father Melwin Ferrao. He congratulated all the houses for their hard work and artistic expression. He emphasized that the, "Living Portraits" should not just be a stage performance but a reflection of how every Bosconian should live, attentive to God’s call and always ready to serve others with a free and joyful heart.
