The Consumer Welfare Club of Don Bosco College, Panjim organised a series of events from January 19 to 24, 2026 to empower students with better vigilance and awareness of their rights as consumers.
An insightful session on the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 was delivered by Mr Tulshidas Dabholkar, assistant director at the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Panjim. In his talk, he cited examples of various market malpractices and offered suggestions to tackle the same. Club Coordinator Mr Jude Fernandes conveyed his gratitude to Mr Tulshidas for collaborating with the institute.
Other initiatives included essay writing, poster making and elocution competitions, all focused on promoting mature purchases and highlighting steps for grievance redressal. For the essay writing competition, Arya Karpe (SY BAMCJ) won the first prize, while Herman Noronha (TY BAMCJ) and Micole D’Souza (FY BAMCJ) won the second and third prize respectively. Naziya Kittur (SY BA) captured the judges’ attention with her evocative poster, while Sayiba Khan (FY BCA-B) and Shreyash Giri (TY BCA-B) rounded up the list of winners. For the elocution contest, Shaivi Bandorkar (SY BBA), Lisa D’Silva (FY BA) and Alim Muzaur (FY BBA T&T) clinched the top three positions with their well-structured content and convincing delivery.
Winners for all three competitions were awarded trophies and certificates. The organisers and participants were appreciated by the college management.
