The Salesians of Mangalore celebrated the Feast of their Founder, Don Bosco, with great devotion and joy in the presence of around 75 participants, including priests, sisters, Salesian Cooperators, and benefactors recently.
The celebrations began with the Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Bonaventure, Parish Priest of Milagres Church, Mangalore. Five priests concelebrated the Eucharist, adding solemnity to the celebration.
After the Eucharistic celebration, Father Anisio Mota, in-charge, proposed the vote of thanks. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the main celebrant and the other priests. He also appreciated the cooperation and concern shown towards the Salesians by the diocesan clergy, especially in the parishes where they minister. A word of thanks was extended to the sisters who represented their respective communities.
A special word of gratitude was expressed to the Salesian Cooperators and the benefactors who were present in large numbers. Father Mota, recalled the dream of Don Bosco for the Salesians to be present in Mangalore, a dream that has now become a reality after many years of waiting.
He thanked Sister Leena D’Costa, superior and the Bethany Sisters of the Senior Citizen Home, Attavar, for making all the arrangements and for providing the entire house for the Salesians to celebrate the feast.
Following the Eucharist, all gathered in the dining hall for a delicious meal. Father Roque, parish priest of Valencia, led the prayers and raised a toast. Special appreciation was extended to Father Jason Pinto who carefully looked after every detail of the liturgy and the meal arrangements.
The gathering was marked by joyful fellowship, with much mingling among the Cooperators, clergy, and benefactors. The beautiful choir, led by Sister Pavitra BS, added grace to the celebration.
