Salesian Family Day 2026 was joyfully celebrated at the Provincial House, Odxel, bringing together Fathers, Sisters, Salesian Cooperators, ADMA members, Past Pupils, young people, and families in a spirit of unity, faith, and Salesian joy. A total of 130 participants were present on February 8, 2026.
Participants were warmly received with badges and tokens after registering themselves, followed by a traditional Goan breakfast of mixed bhaji and bread, creating a welcoming and convivial atmosphere.
As part of the inaugural programme compered by Mrs. Alison Amaral, a colourful procession marked the entry of coordinators from the various units, each carrying their banners, symbolizing unity and shared mission. This was followed by a prayer service led by Sister Hilda Braganza.
The ceremonial lamp was lite by Father Anisio Mota, provincial delegate for Salesian family together with Sister Hilda Braganza, provincial FMA delegate, Ms. Shirley Fernandes, provincial coordinator, Mrs. Enid Varela, provincial ADMA delegate and Father Avin Carvalho, delegate for past pupils. The participants were formally welcomed by Mrs. Caroline Cardoz, coordinator of the Caranzalem unit and provincial secretary.
The gathering participated in the Eucharistic Celebration. Father Mota, was the main celebrant, with Father Carvalho and Father Joel D’Souza as concelebrants. In his homily, Father Mota, reminded the gathering that Don Bosco desired each member of the Salesian Family to be, salt and light in the lives of the young. By being salt, he explained, we are called to mingle with their lives; by being light, we are called to lead them to Jesus.
Vice Provincial, Salesian Province of Panjim, INP, Father Banzelao Teixeira, presented a reflection on the Strenna 2026 theme, Do Whatever He Tells You – Believers, Free to Serve. His reflection offered meaningful insights and inspiration for the year ahead.
The programme concluded with a session on games and sharing and a vote of thanks by Father Mota, who also introduced the newly appointed Provincial Council members and office bearers of the Salesian Family.
After a sumptuous meal the day concluded on a note of gratitude, joy, and renewed commitment to the Salesian mission, leaving participants strengthened in faith and united as one Salesian Family.
