On the Occasion of the Annual Lenten Walking Pilgrimage, the community of Don Bosco Pre-Novitiate Loutolim, Goa, joined the thousands of faithful from across Goa at Sancoale in the early hours of Sunday, February 22, 2026.
The 10 km odd walk began around 2 am from Holy Cross Church, Verna. Pilgrims prayerfully walked reciting the rosary in the spirit of penance and devotion.
The walk culminated at the façade of the Old Church of Our Lady of Health in Sancoale (the Frontispiece of Sancoale) where the Holy Eucharist was presided over by the Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao.
In his introductory remark Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao welcomed the gathering and reminded the faithful of Christ’s sacrifice, fasting and prayer before and during His public ministry.
One of the pre-novices of the Salesian Province of Panjim, Fanil D’souza, shared, I loved the experience; it was very touching to witness the devotion and sacrifices of the people. It truly motivated me. Another pre-novice of the Salesian Province of Mumbai, Arpit Ninama, narrating his experience said, It was an enriching experience that deepened my devotion and helped me witness the strong faith of the people.
The Pilgrimage was a profound expression of faith and unity, drawing together faithful in prayer and spiritual solidarity.
