Feelings of Nostalgia at DBC Panjim Alumni Meet 2024

The Don Bosco College Alumni Association (Regd. 2021) organised its first ever Alumni Meet, a celebration with sports and entertainment throughout the day at Don Bosco College, Panjim on March 10, 2024.

The day began with the 5-A-Side Alumni Futsal Tournament which witnessed a participation of 14 teams. Director of the Don Bosco College, Father Joaquim Lobo inaugurated the tournament with a penalty kick into an open goal post. With a gathering of more than 100 alumni and others, the finals were played between Lairai FC and Nak FC of which the latter emerged victorious. Both the teams took away the trophies and prize money of Rs 5000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. The presentation ceremony was attended by Father Joaquim along with the President of the association, Dr Cedric Silveira who is also the Principal of the college.

The meeting then moved to the Bicentenary Hall for the Fellowship Dinner in the evening. Treasurer of the Alumni Association, Assistant Professor Archie Fernandes hosted the gathering while Dr Cedric Silveira delivered the welcome note. Father Joaquim Lobo spoke about the importance of having an active alumni network and how it can provide a platform for sharing and networking not only for the alumni themselves but also for current students in the college. Assistant professor, Dr Ajith Gopi encouraged the ex-students to sign up for the membership of the registered association while Assistant Professor Glenda Mascarenhas shared her memories of all the batches she has taught over the years. Current students of the college put up a few song and dance performances to entertain the gathering.

Overall, it was quite a nostalgic feeling for all the alumni who attended. The gathering concluded with all the batches taking group photographs with faculty members followed by the fellowship dinner.
